This project involved transforming a photograph of ourselves into an image that looked like a portrait. The original photo was in color, and was not edited at all. To make the photo look like a painting, first we had to resize the picture in Microsoft Publisher and change it to grayscale. Then we opened the picture in Paint, and drew on it with different shades of grey, black, and white. I spent a lot of time trying to make my face and shirt look like paint. After we finished that, we opened the photo in Adobe Photoshop and ran it through different filters. I used the swirl effect on my background first, and then ran the image through the diffuse glow filter and the palette knife filter. I then cropped the photo to fit on my brochure, and published it on my weebly. I learned how to navigate photoshop better through this project.
Self Brochure
We created this brochure on Microsoft Publisher. The brochure was centered around our self-portrait we created on Photoshop. My brochure was based on the idea that I was advertising a photography business. I edited several other photos besides my own picture to make it seem like I was a professional photo editor. I used a lot of different elements in my brochure, such as layering of shapes. I kept my color scheme light and professional, and kept the design clean. I learned how to use different elements of publisher better.
Wish You Were Here CD Cover
For this project, we created a CD cover for one song on Microsoft Publisher. The song I chose was Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. The first thing we had to do was create a custom page size to fit the CD case, which is 9.5 by 4.75. We had to include a cover and back cover image and lyrics on the inside. I used several different filters on my images such as diffuse glow and paint daubs on photoshop. I learned many more techniques on photoshop for this project, and created my own record label for the back of the cover.
The Fall of Troy CD Cover
For the second CD cover we created, we were assigned a song. My song was The Fall of Troy by Tom Waits. For the front and back covers of this project, I created male and female silhouettes with nebula images inlaid behind them. The song is about losing people to the war, so the universe pictures represent the space between them. For the inside, I used a panoramic picture of a mountain and a meadow, and ran it through thatch tool on photoshop. I also lightened it and put the lyrics in cursive to represent the more serious mood of the song.
